Certificate life cicle management

Certificate lifecycle management (CLM) makes it easier for businesses to authenticate and encrypt information using digital certificates. Public key infrastructure (PKI) is a cryptographic framework that secures digital communication and protects data, devices, machines, and people from spoofing, unauthorized interception, tampering, or other attacks.

The main benefit is that it provides visibility and automation throughout the certificate lifecycle: certificate issuance, discovery, inventory, provisioning, deployment, protection, monitoring, renewal, and revocation.

CLM software often replaces manual methods of managing certificates as well as tracking in spreadsheets, making it simple for companies to avoid unplanned system downtime and system vulnerabilities stemming from errors or certificate expiration.

CLM  software provides capabilities for issuing, managing, and automating digital certificates, including but not limited to SSL and TLS certificates, client authentication certificates, digital signing, and SSH certificates. CLM software use cases include user authentication, machine-to-machine authentication for servers and containers, digital signing of codes and documents, encryption and integrity of IoT devices, and much more.
