What is Sublime Text and what is it used for?

Sublime Text is a text editor and source code editor. It is written in C and Python for plugins. It was originally developed as an extension of Vim, but over time created its own identity. It still has an editing mode similar to vi called Vintage mode. Focused primarily on software development for small and medium-sized businesses, Sublime Text is a code editing and prose software with a variety of tools. It’s only compatible with Windows-based programs, and its most notable features include multi-select, package management, and custom keyboard shortcuts. Unlike other software programs, it is not open source, but has other features common to other word processors, such as syntax coloring for automatic parenthesis detection.
